EMU Echelle Spectrometer

Echelle Multiplex Unit (EMU) high-performance spectrometer

CAD illustrations of EMU with EMCCD camera and showing delay generator (required for LIBS) and optional protective cage

The EMU echelle spectrometer (Catalina Scientific, USA) offers high resolution, high throughput and very low stray light performance in a compact unit.  The EMU may be used with various cameras including CCD, ICCD, CMOS but for LIBS applications we recommend an EMCCD camera as this offers the highest resolution in a cost-effective and robust device.

The EMU has user interchangeable dispersion grating cassettes, aperture stops and entrance slits to allow optimisation of the spectrometer for a given application.  For LIBS, we recommend the UV3 dispersion cassette (up to 30,000 resolving power) and the IX1 dispersion cassette (up to 60,000 resolving power).  Please refer to the datasheets below for further information on the EMU.

For LIBS applications, we offer the EMU with a Falcon Blue EMCCD camera (Raptor Photonics, UK).  Please refer to the datasheet below for further information.

Example Calibration Test Reports for the EMU fitted with an EMCCD camera and using the UV3 and IX1 dispersion cassettes are given below.

An example test report for one of our modular LIBS instruments configured with an EMU spectrometer, as shown in the above image, is given in the following link:
